Nokia says that the 6220 will be available in Europe and Asia only. My question is: Will I be able to purchase the 6220 through Expansys for use in the U.S. ?

I own a Nokia 6220 and found that with TMobile, voice communications work fine but not the GPRS connection for browsing or multimedia messaging. This model phone utilizes WAP 2.0 which I suspect is the problem. I have success connecting with Telecom (TIM) Italia without any problems but I'm not certain if TMobile has adopted this newer software compatibility. Their techs could not get this phone connected after attempting several configurations. It's funny though, I can retrieve email through GPRS on this phone! Any feedback? Ciao

If you can get incoming emails then it means that the SMTP settings are wrong. Can you contact your GPRS provider to get their SMTP server and it should work. -- Mahesh - eXpansys

I tried this approach and TMobile techs counld not get this phone to connect. All of the IP addresses were set identicle to another Nokia phone I use, which works flawlessly. I thought the SMTP protocol was solely for mail exchange.

POP3 is for incoming emails and SMTP is for outgoing emails. So you have the *same* settings on another phone and it works ? Did you change any of the advanced settings in the 6220 ? -- Mahesh - eXpansys

You would be better off getting hold of the 6200 when it appears as it is GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/1800/1900. The 6220 is more suited to European / Asian / MiddleEast & Africa zones as it is GSM 900/1800/1900.
