Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2017) 8.0" SM-T385C – Support Forum

HDMI out to TV [Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2017) 8.0" SM-T385C - 307569]

Hi All

Can anyone tell me if the Samsun Tab A 8.0" tablet supports OTG or some other means of mirroring video/audio to a TV, via HDMI cable?

eg with some sort of USB-C to HDMI adapter?

Thanks in advance.

According to the information from the Samsung official website, the Galaxy Tab A (2017) 8.0 does support mirroring function "Galaxy Tab A2 supports wireless connection function. Users can play the content of Galaxy Tab A2 on TV[2] via mirroring function in order to watch videos and photos or more together with family members", "[2] Only support TV with Smart View function".

Thanks for info, but it sounds like a deal-breaker for me.

This 'mirroring function' is wireless; no wired connection possible then?

I have had numerous frustrations trying to use 'casting' when the wifi (eg hotels) needs one to sign in with a captive portal web page. I'm over that.

Somewhat cryptic comment about needing 'smart TV', too. What's that about?

Are we talking MirrorCast?

According to the specification from Samsung official website, the Galaxy Tab A (2017) 8.0 does not come with the MHL functionality.
